The performance of players during direct free kicks in football is related to their mental processes. It is known that the performance of players in these situations is related to lateral thinking. It is important for players to make the right decisions during free kicks, including where to send the ball and the appropriate technique. The main objectives of the research are to determine the relationship between accuracy of shooting and lateral thinking among players in the Iraqi Premier League, to determine the contribution of lateral thinking to the accuracy of shooting during direct free kicks in the Iraqi Premier League, and to predict the accuracy of shooting in the Iraqi Premier League by analyzing the lateral thinking of players. The researchers used a descriptive approach with a survey style and studied correlation relationships. The research community consisted of 24 football players from the Iraqi Premier League who are skilled in taking direct free kicks. The researchers came up with a predictive equation that can be used to predict the accuracy of shooting during direct free kicks in football based on lateral thinking. They concluded that the accuracy of shooting during direct free kicks in football is significantly related to the lateral thinking of players.
