Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify the correlation between consistency of interest and academic advancement, and to predict academic advancement through consistency of interest among graduate students in physical education and sports sciences. The researcher adopted the descriptive approach using the survey method and correlational and predictive relationships. The research sample consisted of postgraduate students in the departments and colleges of physical education and sports sciences at Iraqi universities, numbering (232) male and female students. The sample of the survey experiment amounted to (20) male and female students, and the sample of the main experiment amounted to (212) male and female students. The Consistency of Interest Scale was applied with its (24) paragraphs, and the Academic Advancement Scale was applied with its (39) paragraphs, each paragraph having five answer alternatives (always applicable, often applicable, sometimes applicable, rarely applicable, never applicable). The research came out with a set of conclusions, the most important of which is the existence of a direct correlation between the consistency of interest and academic advancement among graduate students in physical education and sports sciences, and academic advancement can be predicted by the consistency of interest among graduate students in physical education and sports sciences. The researcher recommends a set of recommendations, including the interest of educational institutions in holding awareness seminars to develop consistency of interest and academic advancement for graduate students, and enhancing the role of faculty members in encouraging continuous interest, so that interest is part of the learning culture within the university.
