Abstract

      This aims of study identify the common sports injuries, the most important causes, the most teams activities in which injuries occur, and the time period during which the injury abounds during the school year for students of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences / Wasit University. The researchers used the descriptive approach in the survey method for its suitability to the nature of the study. The research community consisted of third stage students, and the study sample numbered 66 third stage students who participated in this study. The most important findings of the researchers were that the largest number of students were suffering from muscle spasms by 63.6%, followed by muscle traumas by 45.5%, muscle tears by 45.5%, fractures by 42.4%, and the rates of shoulder and wrist joint dislocations were equal by 34.8%, and the percentage of knee joint injury 33.3%. The study found that the most common causes of injuries are poor mental state, staying up late, bad habits, and poor playing grounds in the first place with a percentage of (90%), while the length of the lecture period occupied the second place with a rate of (88%), and the percentage of insecure tools and devices was (86%). The study found that the most common activities in which students' injuries occurred was football with 63.6%, followed by handball with 39.4%, volleyball with 33.3%, and finally basketball with 28.8%. The study also found that the sample at the beginning of the season was the most exposed to injury by 54.54% and in the middle of the season 44% and the lowest rate at the end of the season was 24.24.
