The Effect of Instructional Units Based on the (IDEAL) Model on Learning Handball Shooting and Deception Skills Among Female Students

Abstract

The study aimed to prepare educational units according to the (IDEAL) model and to identify their effect on learning the front-fall shooting and simple feint skills in handball among female students. The researcher adopted the experimental method due to its suitability to the nature of the research problem and its objectives. The research sample consisted of (40) female students, with (20) students from Section (C) and (20) students from Section (W), who were distributed into experimental and control groups. The experimental group was taught through educational units designed according to the steps of the (IDEAL) model, whereas the control group was taught according to the traditional instructional method. The educational units included a set of exercises related to the front-fall shooting and simple feint skills, while the steps of the model were employed in accordance with the nature of motor learning through identifying the motor problem, analyzing it, exploring appropriate solutions, implementing them, and evaluating the performance outcomes. After administering the pre- and post-tests and statistically analyzing the data, the results revealed statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-tests in favor of the post-tests. This indicates the effectiveness of the educational units based on the (IDEAL) model in improving the learning level of the two skills under investigation. The researcher recommends employing the (IDEAL) model in teaching basic handball skills because it provides an educational environment based on interaction, thinking, practice, and evaluation.
