The effect of compound exercises using the fartlek method on punch speed in the University of Diyala boxing team

Abstract

The arm of the research is to prepare a training program (the fartlek) to develop the punch speed of the players of the Diyala University boxing team, and to know the effect of the training program (the fartlek) in developing the punch speed of the players of the Diyala University boxing team. The researcher used the experimental method to suit the research problem, and the research sample was chosen intentionally and they are The players of the Diyala University boxing team, who numbered (12) boxers, were divided into two groups (experimental and control), after being matched by age, height, and weight, and equivalent to the experimental variables, with (6) boxers for each group. Through the results that appeared, the researcher concluded that the training program (fartlek) It is effective in developing speed and speed endurance, as it showed a positive effect and a tangible improvement in the results among members of the research sample. The use of the Fartlek training program led to the development of the experimental group better than the control group, in addition to the diversity in the exercises given to the boxers, which has a significant impact on their development through speed. In performance and endurance, these exercises provide an appropriate environment for using the relationship between intensity, training load, and speed in training boxers. The researcher recommends emphasizing the conduct of the fartlek training program during the general and private preparation period as it leads to the development of speed and speed endurance, and conducting research using fartleks to develop other physical abilities. In boxing, a similar study was conducted on advanced players.
