The significance of this study emerges in light of the recent transformations in education, which call for the adoption of interactive instructional models that integrate multimedia within a structured learning environment—one in which the student plays an active and central role in the learning process. Among these models, the ASSURE model stands out as a modern instructional framework that has proven effective in designing educational units that take into account learners' characteristics and engage them in interactive activities that facilitate more effective skill acquisition.
The present study aimed to examine the impact of using the ASSURE model on learning the overhand and underhand serving skills in volleyball among second-year students at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences – Al-Kut University for the academic year 2024–2025. The researcher employed the experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. A total of 40 students were selected from a research population of 112 students. The experimental group was taught using the ASSURE model, while the control group received instruction through the conventional teaching method employed by the course instructor.
All students underwent pre- and post-tests in both serving skills, using accurate tools to measure performance levels. The results revealed statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group, indicating the effectiveness of the ASSURE model in developing students' motor performance particularly in improving the accuracy of serving skills compared to the traditional method, which lacked interactive engagement and immediate feedback.
The study concluded that integrating technological media within a structured instructional framework such as the ASSURE model—significantly enhances motor skill learning, increases student motivation and engagement, and improves learners' ability to self-correct. The study recommends generalizing the use of this model to other sport-related skills and training instructors in its application during practical sessions to foster an interactive and modern learning environment aligned with contemporary educational demands.
