The effect of the Close-Meyer strategy on metacognitive thinking and some types of handballs shooting for second-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences

Abstract

The problem can be summarized in two questions:  Does the Clowes-Meyer strategy contribute to changing the level of metacognitive thinking and certain shooting styles in handball? Does the research support the comprehensive vision of development in physical education through the use of strategies that play a role in that vision? The research also aims to: prepare educational units using the Klausmeier strategy for metacognitive thinking and some types of handball shooting. Also, identify the effect of using the Klausmeier strategy on metacognitive thinking and some types of handball shooting. To achieve the objectives, the researchers chose an experimental approach with pre-test and post-test, and two experimental and control groups. They also selected a sample of (50) students. The sample was divided into a exploratory, a main experimental, and a control group. They then identified the research variables: metacognitive thinking. Some types of correction were then carried out, followed by the implementation of educational units using the Clowes-Meyer strategy. After identifying appropriate statistical methods, the results were extracted, leading to several conclusions and recommendations. Diversity in the use of teaching strategies is an important factor that those responsible for the learning process cannot do without. The teacher's strategy has positive effects in achieving learning differences, but it is less effective than the Close-Meyer strategy. It is necessary to use the Close-Meyer strategy in metacognitive thinking as well as in learning handball skills. It is necessary to activate diverse educational units that provide excitement, suspense, and a spirit of challenge.
