"Kinetic coordination and its relationship to the level of achievement in discus throwing"

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between motor coordination and performance level in discus throw. The research hypothesis posited a statistically significant correlation between motor coordination and discus throwing achievement. The descriptive method within the correlational studies approach was employed. The research sample consisted of 20 second-year female students from the College of Education for Girls, Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. A dedicated form containing motor coordination tests was prepared and presented to a panel of experts in the fields of testing, measurement, and motor learning. Following data collection and form processing, one test—the Eight-Numbered Circles Motor Coordination Test—gained expert consensus for use. The statistical methods applied included the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, percentage, coefficient of variation, and Pearson's simple correlation coefficient. The conclusions drawn from the study were as follows: A significant correlation was found between motor coordination and the level of achievement in discus throw. The researchers recommended the following: Emphasizing the variable of motor coordination due to its direct impact on performance level in discus throw. Incorporating specific exercises to develop motor coordination by utilizing available tools and equipment. Developing various educational and training aids aimed at enhancing motor coordination, given its crucial role in improving discus throwing performance.
