Abstract

The importance of this research lies in attempting to uncover the nature of the relationship between these anthropometric and physiological indicators and the level of offensive performance effectiveness among basketball players, thus contributing to the development of the training process and raising the competitive level. This research aims to identify the values of some anthropometric indicators (height, weight, body mass index, and body fat percentage) and some physiological indicators (anaerobic threshold, VO2max, and vital capacity VC) among basketball players, and to identify the correlation between these anthropometric and physiological indicators and the level of offensive performance effectiveness among basketball players. To achieve this objective, the researcher adopted the descriptive method. The research population consisted of (27) young basketball players from clubs in Diyala Governorate, using a purposive sampling method. The researcher then identified the variables of the anthropometric indicators, which were (height, weight, body mass index, and body fat percentage), and the physiological indicators, which were (anaerobic threshold, VO2max, and vital capacity VC). The researcher assessed the level of effectiveness of offensive performance through objective observation. After obtaining the results, the researcher adopted the statistical program (SPSS). The researcher concluded that there is a significant correlation between anthropometric and physiological indicators and the effectiveness of offensive performance. She recommended focusing on developing the maximum aerobic capacity (VOmax) and the anaerobic threshold within training programs because of their direct impact on raising the effectiveness of offensive performance among basketball players
