The Effect of Educational Units Based on the Productive Thinking Method on Skill Performance of Basketball Players Under 16 Years

The significance of the present study stems from the fact that it is a serious scientific attempt to find realistic scientific solutions to the developments in learning and the educational process in the sports field. It has become imperative to introduce the classification of educational units according to the productive thinking method into the field of sports, especially in training units, and particularly in the game of basketball. This has prompted researchers and scientists to think in order to raise the level of the game, given the many skills it contains. This requires those in charge to prepare a solid foundation that relies in most of its part on the scientific aspect, which begins with the junior age groups in particular, who supply the national teams and clubs with players, and to provide everything that would develop their skill capabilities. The present study aims to identify the effect of educational units based on the productive thinking method on the skill performance in basketball for players under 16 years old. The study adopts the experimental method. Basketball players under (16) years from Al-Nu’maniyah Club were selected as an experimental group and Al-Kut Club as a control group. The research tests were determined for skills, including dribbling, passing, and shooting and pre-tests were conducted on the two research groups. After that, educational units based on the productive thinking method, which consists of multiple stages, were applied to the experimental group in the hall of Al-Nu’maniyah Club. The number of educational units was (16) educational units. After the completion of the application of the educational units, post-tests were conducted on the two research groups. Data entry was conducted using the (Excel Word) application to prepare it and process it statistically using the SPSS statistical package. After presenting, analyzing, and discussing the results, the study concludes that the productive thinking method brought about a leap in the level of skill performance in basketball for players (under 16 years old), clearly surpassing the traditional methods that depend on rote learning and mechanical repetition.
