The leadership traits and their relationship with the administrative performance of primary school principals from the perspective of physical education teachers in Thi-Qar

Abstract

Management is considered the cornerstone of success for any institution, whether it is industrial, educational, or commercial. It plays a major role and largely determines the success or failure of these institutions. Therefore, management is one of the most important reasons for the growth and advancement of societies. The research aims to prepare two scales to measure the variables of leadership traits and administrative performance, and to identify the level of these variables among primary school principals from the perspective of physical education teachers in Thi Qar. The researcher used the descriptive approach with both survey and correlational methods to fit their nature of research. The research community consisted of teachers from schools affiliated with the General Directorate in Thi Qar province, totaling 100 teachers distributed among 100 primary schools in Thi Qar province. They were divided into three samples (survey sample of 10, construction sample of 50, and application sample of 40). The researcher concluded the presence of a significant positive correlation between leadership traits and administrative performance of primary school principals in Thi Qar province center. The principals of primary schools affiliated with the Thi Qar Education Directorate exhibited a good level of leadership and administrative traits from the perspective of the research sample. The researcher recommended emphasizing the accuracy in selecting primary school principals according to regulated scientific criteria and ensuring the development of continuous guidance programs for primary school principals.
