The Biomechanical analysis of jump shoot (step back) skill and its relationship with the accuracy for advanced basketball players

Abstract

          The aim of the research was to identify the values ​​of some biomechanical variables and the accuracy values ​​of the step-back shooting skill in basketball, as well as to identify the relationship between the values ​​of some biomechanical variables and the accuracy of the step-back shooting skill in basketball. The researchers used the descriptive approach with the correlation method for its suitability and the nature of the research. The research sample consisted of advanced basketball players of the Nineveh Workers Sports Club in Nineveh Governorate, and their number reached (5) players who were chosen intentionally. The researchers used testing, measurement and scientific observation as means of collecting data. For the purpose of achieving technical scientific observation, video recording was used by two digital cameras. The data were processed statistically using the (SPSS) program to obtain the research results. The most important conclusions were as follows: The "Step Back" movement is an effective way to create distance between the attacking player and the defender, which contributes to improving shooting accuracy. Furthermore, combining vertical height and an appropriate launch angle is an effective strategy for reducing the chances of the ball being intercepted by defenders when performing the step back shot. Furthermore, the appropriate speed and center of gravity displacement when performing the step back contribute to increasing the chances of shooting success under defensive pressure.
